A New Beginning:
The Illinois Kindergarten Individual Development Survey
The Kindergarten Readiness Stakeholder Committee, convened by Illinois State Board of Education Superintendent Chris Koch, is happy to share this report for creating a statewide, research-based kindergarten assessment process.
The proposed Illinois Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) will help identify gaps in school readiness, guide classroom instruction and provide information for supporting decision-making about resource allocations. Members representing a broad cross-section of educational, early childhood and philanthropic expertise contributed to the report and its accompanying recommendations.
The KIDS report was generously funded by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation. Questions about the report can be addressed to the Communications staff at any of the partner organizations, Erikson Institute, the Ounce of Prevention Fund or Advance Illinois.
