For the first time in American history, U.S. children are projected to be less educated than their parents. At a time when the workplace is constantly evolving, it is critical that students graduate with a comprehensive education that will prepare them to compete on the world stage and thrive in life. Advance Illinois’ report, We Can Do Better, outlines the policy priorities and recommendations that we believe necessary to provide each Illinois student with access to a quality, world-class education.
These policies and recommendations fall into three categories:
- Recruit, develop, and empower the most effective educators
- Set world-class expectations and provide essential supports
- Empower local innovation in exchange for accountability and results
