How did you decide to go into the education field? 

Education was a second career and saw an opportunity to help students. 

How has school funding made a difference in your classroom? 

With the increase in Evidence Based Funding, our Alternative Learning Opportunity Programs have been able to grow and support more students in and out of the classrooms. The funds have allowed our programs to reach students from 4th grade to 12th grade in over 30 schools. 

What resources and supports can further benefit your classroom/school/community? 

We need to focus on mental health services and McKinney Veto services for students and families. 

Who/What inspires you? Why? 

My Family. I have had several teachers in my family that have made a positive difference in student lives over their teaching career

What accomplishment fills you with pride so far this year? 

Being able to help students and families this year with resources. Our Backpack event was able to distribute over 3,000 backpacks to students in need, the Thanksgiving event provided over 130 dinners to families, and continuing to support students and families with food and other resources. Each day I have the opportunity to help another family. 

If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share? 

Dream big and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Treat people the way you would want someone to treat you. Find the passion that drives your dreams.
