EVIDENCE-BASED FUNDING (EBF) FORMULA EXPLORER
Student-Teacher Ratios and Retention are Improving
Evidence-Based Formula (EBF) Funding has spurred improvements in student-teacher ratios and teacher retention since it was passed in 2017.
Improvements in these metrics are marked in districts with inadequate funding, high proportions of students of color, and high proportions of students from low-income households. However, EBF generates improved conditions for all districts across the board.
5 fewer students per teacher
Teachers in districts with the highest percentage of students from low-income households are serving 5 fewer students per teacher than in 2018
3.4 percentage points higher
The typical district with a high proportion of students of color increased teacher retention by 3.4 percentage points
0.7 fewer students per teacher
The best-funded (Tier 4) schools are also improving under EBF, with a student-teacher ratio improvement of 0.7
